Kids want to explore their different artistic abilities in the companionship of other kids.  At the Bethel Camp for the Arts they have that opportunity under the guidance of trained personnel that will help them explore their talents in satisfying ways.  The camp is geared toward bright and creative children and offering no team sports.  The kids create their own schedules, with choices from many different activities.

This is a 2 or 4 week experience for the kids who range in age from 8 – 15.  The program is elective and has a variety of creative activities, technology and enrichment as well as those sports that are totally individual.  The kids choose 10 activities for each session (5 classes every other day.)  This provides them not only with the time to enhance their own skills but to try new activities too.

Some options in the visual arts area are:

There are 2 Trip Days per session. They may include spending the day relaxing at a beach at Sebago Lake; a visit to Big Adventure Center to enjoy water slides, laser tag, miniature golf, and bowling; an excursion to Whale’s Tail Waterpark and Attitash Mountain.

The camp enrollment is limited to approximately 140 campers per session so the kids aren’t lost in a huge group of kids. There is a ratio of 3 to 1 campers per staff so they kids get great personal attention.

Campers live in comfortable dormitories. Dorm rooms vary per building, with a combination of singles, doubles, triples and suites.  Boys and girls are in separate buildings, each with their own lounge areas. Each dorm room has closets, dressers and desks. Bathrooms are shared by several rooms.

Meals are served buffet style, with several entrée selections accompanied by a salad bar at lunch and dinner, and a sandwich station available at most lunches.

FYI: Campers can bring inexpensive portable music players with headsets such as a Walkman, IPod Shuffle (not a regular IPod) or MP3. These are only to be used in the dormitory at bed time or during rest period. We do not allow devices such as Ipods, Gameboys, etc. We also do not allow cell phones. If a camper is traveling alone and needs to bring a cell phone to call home from the airport, we will collect the cell phone upon arrival and return it to the camper at the end of camp.
