Animals, Rides, and Attractions at York’s Wild Kingdom
York’s Wild Kingdom is one of the rare places that actually live up to their promise of there being something for everyone in the whole family to enjoy. It is both a zoo and an amusement park, drawing more than 200,000 visitors every year. York’s Wild Kingdom also happens to be the largest park in the area, and draws plenty of locals as well as tourists. It is located in York Beach, Maine, and is famous for all of the different exotic animals that it houses.
When you enter the park, you have a number of choices of what to do first. Do you head directly to the rides or do you go and visit the animals first? It’s all a matter of choice, really. There is enough to keep you busy at the park for a long time.
When it comes to wild animals, York’s Wild Kingdom has a lot to offer. You can visit with wildebeests, elephants, bears, lions, and tigers, among many others. There is even an aviary exhibit, seven different primate habitats, and a petting zoo. Among the different animals is a very special resident of the zoo. Her name is Rewa, and she is the only white Bengal Tiger in Maine. You will be able to see just about every different type of mammal, bird, and reptile that you can imagine. It is a great experience for both kids and adults.
The fun doesn’t end with all of the animals though. There is still an entire amusement park to explore. You can ride on the Ferris Wheel, the 90-ft super slide, bumper cars, go karts, and even take a trip through the haunted house if you think you are up for it. Afterward, you can play a round of miniature golf or have fun with the video games in the arcade. You will even find a real midway with plenty of games to play and treats to eat. Don’t forget to visit the gift shop for a souvenir.
After the whole day is done, you and the family can head down to the sandy York beach. It is only a short walk from the park, and you will find some great shops and restaurants along the way. It is a great way to end the day.
